Itinerary In Detail

Day 1-3: Welcome to Botswana!

Your Botswana adventure begins with your arrival at Kasane Airport, where you’ll be met and transferred to Chobe Bakwena Lodge, a tranquil, eco-conscious retreat tucked beneath shady trees along the banks of the Chobe River. Just minutes from Chobe National Park.

Over the next two days, you’ll explore one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Chobe National Park is renowned for its spectacular elephant population, the largest in Africa, along with thriving herds of buffalo, antelope, and rich predator activity.

Begin your days with early morning game drives inside the park, where you’ll track wildlife as the bush comes to life. In the late afternoon, relax aboard a sunset river cruise on the Chobe River, an unforgettable way to observe elephants bathing, hippos wallowing, and crocodiles sunning on the banks, all set against the golden hues of the African dusk.

Between activities, unwind in your private chalet, cool off in the pool, or take part in a guided village visit or cycling tour to connect with the rhythms of local life.

Accommodation: Chobe Bakwena Lodge

Day 3-5: Wildlife In Kwando Concession

This morning, you’ll board a light aircraft flight into the remote Kwando Private Concession, one of Botswana’s most wildlife-rich and least crowded safari areas. Spanning over 232,000 hectares of untouched wilderness, the concession is known for its open floodplains, dense predator activity, and incredible sense of solitude.

You’ll spend the next two nights in a camp set within this exclusive concession, offering direct access to vast landscapes teeming with life. With only two camps operating in the entire area, sightings here are private and unrushed, a rarity in African safaris.

Each day, set out on expert-guided game drives, led by a professional guide-and-tracker team, a pairing that significantly enhances wildlife encounters. The region is especially famed for African wild dogs, as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and large herds of elephants and buffalo.

The Kwando experience also allows for off-road driving and night safaris, offering a deeper, more flexible exploration of the terrain. Between activities, relax in your spacious tented suite and listen to the sounds of the bush from your deck, with elephants or antelope often passing by.

Accommodation: Lebala Camp

Day 5-7: Head To Lagoon Camp

Today, you’ll enjoy a scenic game drive en route to your next camp, Lagoon camp, arriving at a beautifully remote location set beneath a canopy of ebony and marula trees along the Kwando River. This water-rich region offers a contrasting experience, where riverbanks teem with wildlife and herds of elephants and buffalo gather to drink, often just meters from camp.

Over the next two nights, immerse yourself in this pristine environment with morning and afternoon game drives, led by an expert guide-and-tracker team. This area is renowned for its large predator populations, including lions, wild dogs, and hyenas, as well as impressive elephant activity, particularly during the dry season when animals concentrate near water.

Between drives, enjoy quiet moments on your private deck overlooking the river or watch hippos and crocodiles from the lodge’s main area. The mix of dense woodland, open plains, and permanent water sources makes this region one of the most wildlife-dense areas in northern Botswana.

Accommodation: Lagoon Camp

Days 7-9: Desert Life & San Traditions: Kalahari

This morning, board a scenic light aircraft flight into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the largest conservation area in Botswana and one of the most remote wildernesses in all of Africa. You’ll spend the next three nights at Tau Pan Camp, perched on a low ridge overlooking the vast open plains of the Tau Pan.

Unlike any other landscape on your journey, the Kalahari offers an extraordinary sense of space and silence. Ancient fossil riverbeds, golden grasslands, and low-lying dunes stretch in every direction, and with virtually no other vehicles in sight, the safari experience feels deeply personal and untouched.

Tau Pan is one of the only permanent camps within the reserve, offering incredible access to wildlife adapted to this arid environment. Game drives reveal desert species such as oryx, springbok, bat-eared foxes, and meerkats, along with predators like cheetah, lion, and the elusive brown hyena. The reserve is also a haven for birders, especially during the green season when migratory species arrive.

A highlight of your stay is the opportunity to join a guided bush walk with San Bushmen, learning traditional survival skills, medicinal plant use, and animal tracking passed down for generations.

Evenings at Tau Pan are for stargazing, storytelling, and soaking in the deep quiet of the desert, a powerful and grounding way to end your journey through Botswana’s most iconic and contrasting ecosystems.

Accommodation: Tau Pan Camp

Day 10: Depart From Botswana

This morning, you'll leave Tau Pan Camp and take a light aircraft flight to Maun Airport, arriving in plenty of time for your onward flight.
